For years, like so many others, I would book a massage with high expectations, after reading the words and seeing the images in the advertising, or in the window or hearing great things from a friend or family member about what worked for them. I would realise, either during the treatment or after I leave, that I had wasted my money. There was very little or no change. The disappointment and feelings of let-down were huge, especially if the place had come highly recommended or had worked for someone else who I trusted their experience.
After the pain did not go away, I tried doctors and other therapies, I headed to the shops, or the internet, looking for someone else to try, and on it went, for years! One day I found what I was looking for and received the help I needed for my body. Dee Ling from ‘Lillies’ in Latrobe Tasmania. She listened to MY BODY. I felt amazing. One day I heard that she was looking for a student, as she was wanting to retire. I said “Oh pick me!” She replied that she was unable to pick me, as I had no formal massage training. I went home, pulled out the phone book (yep), and found a government-accredited college where I was able to study online and on campus. I asked for an to be sent.
When the information pack arrived, I went in to see her and said, “OK now pick me… what do I need to study?” I worked in her clinic one full day a week and she trained me to listen to the body. I have a Diploma of Massage. I LOVE what I do. I have mostly worked in my own home-based clinics. In addition to my clinic in Evandale, I travel to different areas with a Mobile Muscular Pain Relief Studio.
